Rainy Days Ahead: Let’s Prepare Together

Posted Date: 10/15/26 (04:26 PM)

An informational flyer titled 'Rainy days ahead. Let's prepare together,' outlining three safety steps for a wet winter.
Dear Orcutt Union families,
Forecasters are predicting a wet winter, and we want to make sure you receive important information quickly and safely. A few simple steps now will help keep your family informed.
First, please make sure your contact information is current. ParentSquare receives its information directly from Aeries, our student information system. If your phone number, email, or address has changed, please contact your school office so they can update it in Aeries, and your changes will carry over to ParentSquare automatically. Updates made only in ParentSquare will not be saved. While you’re in touch with your school office, please also review your child’s emergency contacts and authorized pickup list to be sure everyone listed is current and available. We also encourage every family to register at ReadySBC.org to receive emergency alerts and evacuation orders directly from the County of Santa Barbara.
In an emergency, please do not come to your child’s school unless you are asked to. When many families arrive at once, it can slow our response, block emergency vehicles, and delay the safe release of students. Your child will be cared for by trained staff, and we will share pickup instructions through ParentSquare.
Sandbag stations are open as of October 15, and you can find locations at countyofsb.org/pw-sandbags.
The County Call Center is available at 833-688-5551.
If you missed the County’s El Niño Community Meeting, you can watch the recording in
English at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iko0pGoxTgo or in
Spanish at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7OXeb1YZPk.
Always follow the directions of local authorities. If you are told to evacuate, please do so.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe!
